FAVOR is a Movement.
FAVOR is all about organizing the recovery community to put a “face and voice” on recovery and to provide intervention and recovery support services to those seeking recovery. FAVOR Greenville was incorporated in SC in 2004. Its work is part of a national recovery advocacy movement whose vision is to provide people affected by substance use disorders with access to the support they need to achieve and maintain long-term recovery. We envision a day when the public and policymakers will accord individuals and families affected by addiction the dignity they deserve and that they will receive respectful, nondiscriminatory care on the same basis as people with other health conditions. To make that happen our “faces and voices of recovery” from all walks of life are standing up for recovery and delivering the power and proof of recovery to our communities. Together we will change public perception, and ultimately the public response to addiction.
FAVOR is a Center.
FAVOR Greenville Center is our community’s “Welcome Center to Recovery.” Using innovative approaches not available anywhere else in our area, FAVOR offers new hope to individuals and families suffering with substance use disorders. Since the doors of the Center opened in July 2013, hundreds of people immediately enrolled in our non-clinical recovery support programs and have since become dedicated participants and volunteers. When individuals and families come to FAVOR, there are no forms to fill out, no criteria to be met, no insurance required, no discharge planning. We believe that easy and immediate access to intervention services and recovery support over the long-term is the missing link in our system of care. Programs and services at FAVOR Greenville Center are offered at no cost, so that people do not face any financial barriers to participation. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 am until 8 pm and on Saturday from 10 am until 2 pm.
FAVOR is a Family.
The healing that happens at FAVOR brings our participants close to one another through their shared bond of suffering caused by addiction. Participants reach out to newcomers, who are facing the fresh, private grief of addiction, and accompany them as they find their own path to recovery. Friendships are formed. Participants look forward to seeing their new friends at the next All Recovery meeting, recovery coach training session or Fun in Recovery event. They celebrate together the progress made in recovery and comfort those who are experiencing a new trauma or setback. When they leave the Center, participants know that they are not alone, that FAVOR is their recovery sanctuary, and that they are cherished members of the “FAVOR Family.” Come join us!
